Our Manifesto

General

  1. To create innovative site specific exhibitions and experiences for the general public.

  2. To be forward thinking.

  3. To be innovative.

  4. Working with communities, engaging people and places. Art with communities can be innovative and high quality.

  5. To be responsible in what we produce, considering the environmental and social implications.

  6. To focus our curating and selection of artists on creating opportunities for marginalised or underrepresented groups, especially women.

  7. We will capture learning from each project, making sure each project we complete is evaluated.

Accessible Projects

  1. All of our output will consider visitors and artists who have special access needs, meaning all of our exhibitions/events will explore and provide elements of accessibility.

  2. We will consider the language we use in interpretation and promotion of our projects to avoid alienation of audiences who have negative associations with ‘ART.’

  3. All of our projects will be available online afterwards for those who are unable to attend a physical experience either due to disabilities, location, financial or time constraints.

Research

  1. Each project will have a close relationship with research.

  2. We will allow our projects to run online after the show closes to provide an archive for ourselves and for others’ future research.

  3. We will work closely with communities in either the development or delivery of projects and uncover what best suits the communities.

Working with Artists

  1. To create opportunities, through our own projects, for artists living and working in the East Midlands.

  2. To provide fair payment.

  3. To provide support in the creation of the artwork, being considerate of the well-being of those involved.

  4. To provide flexible working conditions where artists can fit in other responsibilities.

  5. To work collaboratively with artists and provide opportunities for them to learn and develop their own practices.

  6. We produce high quality artwork and experiences and we expect those we work with to do the same.

Personal Practice

  1. We will support each other to chase each other’s passions.

  2. Ensure that our own professional practices are developing and growing.

  3. We will have fun and encourage others to do so.

  4. Pushing our existing abilities and challenging what we can do, always striving to expand our knowledge and grow our skill set.

  5. Always ask ourselves why. Is the answer one of the points in our manifesto?
